Situated in the middle of Taughmon/Turin parish, outside of Mullingar, hails a hurling club called Clonkill. Founded in 1917, Clonkill has cemented itself as one of the most successful GAA clubs in Co. Westmeath. In a vibrant community, the club is actively involved in the promotion and development of hurling in the local community.
Clonkill, who wear green and gold compete in the Senior Hurling Championship in Westmeath. We also field teams in the intermediate and junior adult grades. We are currently the record holders, in the roll of honour for senior hurling championships, with our last coming in 2020.
If you are interested in playing adult hurling, Clonkill GAA Club is a great place to start. Whether you’re looking to get in shape, meet new people, or simply enjoy the game, Clonkill GAA Club has something to offer.
Since its relaunch in 2003, Clonkill Camogie Club has come on leaps and bounds. Camogie is a sport similar to hurling, but it is played exclusively by women. The adult camogie team at Clonkill Camogie Club competes in local leagues and tournaments, and the club is known for its supportive and welcoming atmosphere.
Clonkill Hurling Club has a great record in developing some of the best hurlers in Westmeath through our underage ranks. Apart from playing the fun and exciting sport of hurling, it also develops great life skills like teamwork, a competitive spirt, physical development and building camaraderie among other kids.
Apart from bringing you a sense of community, cooperation and fulfilment, Clonkill provides its members a fun, competitive environment to socialise with friends and make new ones.
