In Clonkill, like many other areas in Ireland, hurling is deeply rooted in our local culture and history. We provide training, coaching, and opportunities to compete in the Westmeath championships for kids aged and over. Our focus is on developing skills, building teamwork, and fostering a love for the sport.
Developing underage players into senior hurlers involves a combination of factors, including coaching, training, game experience, and personal development.
Coaching is crucial in helping young players to develop the necessary skills and techniques required to play the game at a high level. A strong emphasis on fundamentals, such as ball control, passing, and shooting, is key in the early stages of development.
Personal development is also important in helping young players to develop the mental toughness, discipline, and leadership skills required to succeed at senior level. This includes developing good habits both on and off the field, as well as learning how to communicate effectively with teammates and coaches.
Everyone plays the game to enjoy it. This is no different at Clonkill. We offer enjoyable and fun games for our underage in a top class facility/environment. Other than skills, physical fitness and great character building traits, Clonkill offers its members to build friendships for life and a real community and family like feel. No matter at the start, middle or end of the season, come down to Clonkill and get involved in training. You won’t regret it!
